The haps

It's February 1st, I give up fighting Kian about wearing flip-flops. It's California, after all.
Cabin fever is taking its toll on all of us. The kids play "look we all fit in the entertainment center!".
A little snuggly cuddly sibling time on the family room floor.

January--done!
Ryan considers February the most bleak month, but I disagree. I think January is no man's land. Nothing to look forward to.

At least in February we have stuff going on. Like Valentine's Day (if you're into that sort of thing), Cate's birthday (which means party planning for ten little girls-bleh!), hopefully a quick Disneyland trip (Ryan's work is kind enough to give him a few 'comp' days for all the overtime he has been putting in, oh yeah, and it's the shortest month of the year. It will be over before we know it!

We havent' seen much of Ryan at all since the new year began. He's been working longer hours and weekends to boot. And then when he actually does get a Sunday off he has meetings before church so still no Ryan around! It will all be over soon. Phew! I feel all single-motherish.

We also get to find out what we are having next week, after that we will be taking name suggestions and awarding the winner with a hearty pat on the back, and maybe even an honorable mention in their scrapbook. No guarantees.

  • Millie has just discovered the joys of tantruming. It's still at the cute stage where you just laugh at the tantrum as she carefully rolls herself over and looks around to see who is watching. She loves to color. With markers. And she just discovered that the markers fit conveniently in her ears so she has purple ears.
  • Kian is enjoying preschool and adjusting to being a Sunbeam at church. Still waiting for him to grow out of his terrible-twos-and-threes. Kian loves to draw dinosaurs, I will scan one in and post it maybe next time, they are awesome and funny.
  • Cate is zipping right along in her reading at school. It's awesome to see her finally just get it and be able to read, read, read. She loves the Magic Tree House books.
Our house is "sale pending"...we are praying it is sooner than later. Not sure yet when we will move out. The kids are excited about their new bunkbed.

Anyway, not much else to mention in this month-of-bleakness. Hopefully I will rediscover my camera during February and actually take pictures of the kids.

Hope your year is starting off on the right foot.
