This and That

The journey of a thousand miles begins with...a patio. Here is a shot of our almost finished patio. The first addition to our barren wasteland of a backyard.
We celebrated Kelli's "sweet 16" on Friday. Here is Grandma Diane and Chad. You can see Millie's cute little thunder thighs--well, compared to when she was born! She has put on a good two and a half pounds.
So Millie has reached the 6-week milestone. That means a growth spurt where she wants to eat every hour for most of the day. Hopefully that will taper off today.

Another milestone we reached was our first trip to the ER. And it wasn't with Kian! Millie and Kian have had a little cold and Saturday night Millie had a fever. We called our pediatrician and she said we needed to take her in. So we did. They drew her blood, took a urine sample (via catheter--poor baby!) and gave her a shot of anitbiotics. Then we waited until 2:30 in the morning for them to say her tests looked good. All the while we were in awe at how disgusting and inhospitable the ER is. Not to mention all the other sick people we were privileged to listen to moan and explain things I never wanted to know about (eg. one lady was having bowel issues so the nurse brought her a 'commode' to use--fantastic!). It was also really cold and we didn't bring warm stuff since it had been 100 degrees that day. Absolutely miserable, Ryan and I imagined a jail cell couldn't be much different.

Poor Millie :( What a terrible experience. ER s are just as you described it. Nasty.
